@kunal_iota - I'm wondering if you have plans for integration with SmartThings yet or whether this is something that you will not be doing - in which case, I'll stop asking. Please let us know if you have any plans to do this.
EDIT: Was able to figure out it was a syncing issue. I'm not sure if it was an issue with using a + in the email address, to allow for a specific address to be used with the iota dot, but if you are using an email with that in, removing it helped with my issues.
If you're having difficulty adding IFTTT, to a Dot, click on "Check it Out" and NOT "Add App". I'm hoping they'll have a better set of instructions for this in the future, and from there you should be able to click on one of the iota labs apps for use. Click and you should be able to select one of the iota dots that you have added.
If you are still having trouble adding, click on the Gear button in the top right hand corner, and either disconnect so you can re-add your connection or click on "Edit connection". Upon clicking on "Edit connection", you should be able to put in your username and password again, so you're able to link the Dots to your account again.
From here, you should have your dots connected again, and you should be able to access them by using an IFTTT app, through setup.
That's what helped me. Hope it helps you. Still would love to know when the "Add App" is back to working properly.
@kunal_iota Hi! Not a stranger to backing tech start-ups I must say that this is the only time I feel like requesting a full refund! Total silence and a product that has nothing to do with the product I backed. I am inches from from filing a fraud investigation request with Kikstarter. Please DM me so we can part ways in an orderly fashion.
I've been unable to make any of my dots work as expected.
I have three, and was able to update them from V1 to V2. During the process the LED illuminated and the firmware revision was updated. I can also see them using the nRF app, so they appear to be functioning at that level. But that's the only interaction I've been able to get from any of them.
I set one to "roommate mode" where it's LED should illuminate when I'm (or my phone) is near it. I presume the "specified user" is related to the supplied email. Well, I set the email in the app the email on my phone - and there is no response.
I'm pretty sure I've set this up correctly, so I guess I'm added to the list of people whose dots only work to update the firmware in them.
If, as noted (about a month ago) it, that “Proximity with your own email account may be causing a bug”, then the iota/dot is useless. If it can’t determine accurately if it’s me (or my phone) that’s near it, what’s the point?
Sorry but I don't have time to waste either trying to attempt fixes (if indeed they were ever forthcoming) for an obviously flawed product, or having to wait a week between replies. It's a garbage product that's nothing like the original concept, and so I'm redeploying it to its rightful place - in the garbage!
I tried Hue with a different dot today, so 2. Added both the Hue app and the button off app. Made sure the room name is exactly as defined. It didn't work. No response on entering or exiting the defined room. Made sure Dot sees my phone. Nothing got the lights to come on. I wonder if this week's Hue firmware update may be the cause? It seems to me these tech gimmicks only work for short periods. Too many changes in too many places create an unstable user experience. A shame really. Anyway, anyone else struggle to switch on a room or is this just me?
